The professional lamps are designed and built for hard professional applications.
They have the AHC coating on the housing as standard. This process produces an extremely good mechanical and chemical resistance, far exceeding the standard anodised coating.
The chemical resistance of AHC coating exceeds that of stainless steel and is therefore the chosen protective coating for many industrial and military equipment applications.
The fulcrum of the hand grip is ideal for a perfectly balanced handling and gives the lamp a distinctive appearance.
The hand grip can be removed and the remaining mounting can be used for underwater video camera lighting applications.
When the front and rear covers are then switched the unit is perfectly balanced.

The professional electronic switch has an SOS distress blinker and a variable power setting switch with 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%.
As an optional extra, the compact lamps can also be fitted with this variable power setting.

The professional lamps are equipped with a borosilicate glass lens as standard, with a temperature shock resistance of 300°c (570°f). In practice this allows the lamp to be used above water and then quickly immersed into ice cold water without the lens crazing or breaking.
As an optional extra, the compact lamps can also be fitted with this special lens.

Reflector Spot / Flood
The underwater lamps from Hartenberger can be equipped with reflectors with different beam characteristics. The excellent light path from these reflectors cannot be matched by a traditional reflector with an extra focus adjustment.

Spot
The spot reflector provides a soft transition from a bright center to a softly illuminated extremity.
The light characteristics of this reflector match the physiology of the human eye and prevents an uncomfortable tunnel vision which sometimes results from the use of harsher traditional spot reflectors.

Flood
The light from this reflector is spread evenly over the entire beam area, and is therefore especially suited for use when filming.
Through the additional use of the optional chemically produced matt lens, a particularly soft light is produced. The creativity of underwater photographers, filmers and videographers can be fully exhausted.

All lamp are supplied with high temperature halogen bulbs. These set themselves aside from commonly available halogen bulbs with their high illumination characteristics.

 

125/128 compact
The compact lamps are especially equipped for the budget conscious user, without having to compromise on technology. The electronic switch has an SOS distress blinker as standard. An optional variable power setting can be fitted at extra cost.

The compact lamps have all the advantages of the housing construction techniques. The surface is anodised silver-grey.
In addition to saving weight, the waist in the housing gives the lamp a unique appearance.

The power center of Hartenberger rechargeable lamps is the nickel cadmium (NC) cell pack. The cells are all individually selected with regard to the capacity and their comparison and compatibility to the other cells in the pack. Each individual cell has between 115% and 120% of its stated capacity. A high degree of reliability, extended burn time and most importantly extended cell life expectancy is achieved through this selection process.
The capacity of our NC rechargeable cells could possibly be superseded by other makes of NC cells, however we have chosen these cells for their resistance against the higher temperatures resulting from the higher voltages produced during the charge and discharge cycles.
The cells are electronically welded into a pack, housed between the two moulded glass fibre strengthened polyamide caps which provide excellent shock protection.
A spare O ring for the housing can be found under the reflector unit.
All cell packs have a spare bulb holder.

Microprozessor electronic
The heart of the Hartenberger lamps is the newly developed electronic control unit. Traditional reed switches, known for their mechanical delicacy, have been replaced by robust semi conductors which are sensitive to changes in magnetic fields.

The plug in electronic is available in 2 versions:

compact version:
A micro processor controls and monitors the following functions:

• a magnetic field monitor prevents the unit from being activated by a foreign magnet.
  
• a short circuit limiter regulates the current when the unit is switched on, thus protecting the delicate high performance bulb.
  
• SOS flashing distress signal in accordance with the internationally recognised Morse alphabet.
  
• discharge protection switches the lamp off and prevents the voltage in the cells falling below 0.9 volts. Although the discharge protection reduces the actual burn time by preventing the full use of the cells capacity, it does however greatly increase the life expectancy of the cells. This protection additionally limits the build up of pressure within the cells and thus reduces the risks resulting from the production of hydrogen gas. The discharge protection does not switch the lamp off suddenly, instead:
  
• a low capacity warning informs the user with 3 blinks of the halogen Bulb, of the imminent end of the burn time. This warning can be heeded in the professional versions and the lamp can be switched over to a reduced power setting, thus extending the time before the lamp turns itself off.
  
  professional version:
  This version has all the features previously mentioned plus:
  
  
• a variable power setting giving 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% of the maximum power output of the halogen Bulb.

Nickel-Metal-Hydride-Cells
Series D-Cells
Sins 1998, we have been intensively testing the new Nickel-Metal-Hydride Series D Cells, commonly known as Mono Cells.

The results we have reached from the different manufacturers producing these cells ranges from disastrous to superb!

The “superb” cells that we offer were put through 250 cycles of use.
The charging was carried out exclusively with an off-shore II charger and the cells were discharged using a 100 Watt Halogen Bulb.

The resulting burn time under various environmental conditions was between 55 and 63 minutes!!
During our tests, the loss of capacity due to the increased charge cycles was well under the average expected from Nickel Cadmium.

Unfortunately, these cells are not available in the quantities which we would like.

The printed curcuits boards, conductors in the electronic controls and all the mechanical components made of glass, titanium, aluminium and plastic have been precision manufactured in Germany using computer controlled CNC machining. The glass fibre reinforced plastic components are precision manufactured using 9 different moulds.

The most modern technology and high quality wokmanship of all the components combined in a quality controlled assembly and testing procedure make the handligt 125 and 128 the most precious and prestigous diving lamps available in the world today.
